
A graduate of Kempsville High School, Class of June 1997, Donny Miller went on to pursue his passion for the culinary arts at Johnson & Wales University, where he earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in May 1999.
Following his formal training, Donny dedicated seventeen years to the culinary profession in the Virginia Beach resort area, cultivating a distinguished career as a professional chef. During this time, he contributed his expertise to a variety of esteemed establishments, including resort hotels, country clubs, and private restaurants. Most notably, he served as Sous Chef at Greenbrier Country Club for nine years, where he refined both his culinary craftsmanship and leadership abilities. Donny concluded his tenure in the culinary field as Kitchen Manager at The Egg Bistro in Chesapeake, Virginia, a position he held from January 2010 through June 2013.
In June 2013, he embarked on a new professional chapter in the mortgage industry, joining Movement Mortgage as a Processor. Through dedication, focus, and a commitment to growth, Donny advanced to the role of Underwriter by November 2016. As of 2026, he has maintained this position for a decade and holds the title of Underwriter Level 3, a testament to his expertise and sustained excellence in the field.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Donny has cultivated a deep and enduring passion for barbecue, honing his skills through numerous specialized classes, including competition-style cooking and direct-heat techniques over live fire. This pursuit reflects both his culinary roots and his continued appreciation for the craft.
Since 2023, he has been an active member of Calvary Church in Virginia Beach, where he enjoys serving his community, often contributing his talents in the preparation of food for church events and gatherings. Donny resides in Virginia Beach, Virginia, with his wife and their two children.
