Jamie brings a background in educational consulting, trauma-informed best-practice,
and a heart for serving the Lowcountry community. In her role with Susan’s Lowcountry, she
helps advance our mission to empower seniors and veterans through meaningful connection.
With over ten years of experience in trauma-prevention and educational systems, Jamie offers
valuable insight into the power of not only mitigating the impact of adversity for seniors and
veterans, but fostering meaning and purpose amidst life’s challenges- proven to decrease risks
in mental and physical health.
Jamie has presented at several educational conferences along the east coast, including the
South Carolina Montessori Alliance, ReImagine Conference, and several podcasts and
school-wide trainings. She hosts The GRIT® Podcast and has served on several boards,
including The Jade Bridge (serving foster and adoptive families), and the Butler Academy
Inaugural Charter Planning Board. Jamie is an active member of the Campaign for
Trauma-Informed Policy and Practice and the Positive Childhood Experiences Community.
Jamie is drawn to this meaningful work due to her extensive background in childhood adversity
research and the power of positive experiences to mitigate and prevent trauma. Meeting the
needs for safety, connection, and belonging fosters empowerment and healthy coping needed in
every stage of life. Seniors and veterans may have endured hardship or isolation, but resilience
provides a legacy of hope, healing, and dignity that they deserve.
Jamie has served in many roles in the community including leadership and small-group ministry
in her church, spearheading a clean water initiative and petition campaign, volunteering with a
local food scarcity non-profit, and serving as leader for a parent prayer group at her daughter’s
school.
Outside of her professional and volunteer work, she enjoys attending church and worship
services, spending time in nature and attending community events with her family, and attending
live music shows.
Jamie resides in North Georgia and is blessed to be a part of this worthy initiative benefitting
seniors and veterans in the Lowcountry.
