Jonathan Morgan

Jonathan Morgan attended Kempsville High School, where playing basketball and golf helped shape his teamwork, discipline, and communication skills. During both high school and college, he also worked as a children’s soccer referee, an experience that strengthened his leadership, patience, and ability to connect with others. He went on to attend Randolph-Macon College and Old Dominion University, majoring in Communications with a minor in Political Science.

During college, Jonathan was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and actively participated in charitable fundraising efforts, including the RMC Fun Run. He also served as an intramural basketball referee. His passion for service was deeply influenced by his mother, with whom he volunteered through the Red Cross—instilling in him a lifelong commitment to community involvement, compassion, and giving back.

That commitment deepened following a life-changing visit to his father at a retirement facility. During that visit, Jonathan met Danny, a homeless Vietnam veteran who had lost his legs and was sitting outside watching someone fish. As they talked, Danny shared that the facility was raising his rent by $300 a month—an increase he could not afford on his limited veteran’s benefits. Later, Jonathan learned Danny had been evicted and was forced to move into a hotel. Witnessing this firsthand deeply impacted him and opened his eyes to the harsh realities many veterans face.

During that same visit, Jonathan also noticed seniors sitting near the entrance greeting those who walked in, simply hoping for conversation and connection. Many shared that they rarely had visitors and were struggling with loneliness, depression, and isolation. Seeing both of these moments unfold within minutes of each other left a lasting impression on him.

Combined with the experience of walking through his mother’s battle with cancer and visiting his father living alone in a retirement facility, Jonathan gained a deeply personal perspective on how often seniors are neglected in our country. What he saw as a pattern of isolation, displacement, and lack of support ignited a calling in him to make a difference.

These experiences became the inspiration behind Susan’s Lowcountry Non-Profit and his commitment to serve—fueling his passion to advocate for seniors, veterans, and individuals living on fixed incomes who are too often overlooked.

Jonathan continues to serve his community through Rincon Church of God, where he volunteers his time and energy to support others. His faith in Jesus Christ is the foundation of his life, and he feels called to love, serve, and uplift others in His name.

Professionally, Jonathan has built a strong career in the mortgage industry, working in secondary markets with Movement Mortgage and gaining experience in processing, post-closing, and underwriting before becoming a licensed Loan Officer.

Above all, Jonathan is a devoted husband and father who deeply values his family. He shares a strong and loving partnership with his wife, Vanessa, and cherishes life with her, their daughter, and their beloved rescue pets—cats Luna and Charlie, and their dog Scarlett.
