Kristy Simons brings a powerful blend of clinical knowledge, educational expertise, and a lifelong passion for philanthropy to her role as Secretary for Susan’s Lowcountry Non-Profit. With a B.S. in Psychology from UPJ and an M.Ed. in Special Education from ODU, Kristy offers deep insight into the psychological and cognitive challenges—including PTSD, anxiety, and depression—that often lead to the social isolation faced by our veterans and seniors.
Her professional journey is rooted in over 13 years of teaching non-verbal children with Autism and extensive experience within mental health and rehabilitation facilities. This background allows her to guide the organization’s strategic growth with a specialized focus on empathy and clinical understanding. Kristy’s commitment to service began in her youth while providing care for her aunt with Multiple Sclerosis; it was during those formative years she realized how profoundly positivity, empathy, and communication can influence a person’s quality of life.
A seasoned community leader, Kristy’s philanthropic resume includes serving as a Humanitarian Club President, Philanthropic Chair for Alpha Sigma Alpha, and a coach for Girls on the Run. Originally from St. Michael, Pennsylvania, and having spent 15 years in Virginia Beach, Kristy now resides in Indian Land, South Carolina. She is proud to facilitate a meaningful impact across the Lowcountry, ensuring those who served and built our communities are seen, valued, and connected.
Outside of her board service, Kristy enjoys life with her husband of 19 years, their four children, and the family cat, George. She is a dedicated fan of Steelers football and finds joy in music, road trips, and exploring the beauty of both the beach and the mountains with close friends.
